InnovaCrew Begins Limited
Deployment of Windows XP Service Pack 2
ROSEVILLE, CALIFORNIA, SEPTEMBER
22, 2004
InnovaCrew, a leading Roseville-based computer and network
support firm, announced today that it has begun limited
deployments of the new Windows XP Service Pack 2 update to its
customer base. This deployment comes after the company's initial
advice to delay implementation.
"We've seen several cases where the
security benefits of Service Pack 2 clearly outweighed the
potential risks," said Josh Jacoby, founder and President of
InnovaCrew. "In nearly every case the upgrades worked as
expected and the customers experienced minimal inconvenience.
There was one case where the computer had a problem that was
quickly solved with a BIOS update."
Service Pack 2 ("SP2") has been
widely touted by Microsoft as a cure to many security problems.
These security issues are largely responsible for the widespread
problem of incessant pop-up ads and offensive content appearing
on many computers. SP2 is a key component of Microsoft's new
emphasis on security. More information can be found here:
